Larnaca
Larnaca is the oldest standing inhabited city of Cyprus, original known
as Kition Unlike other ancient cities, which were abandoned by their inhabitants,
Larnaca still exists on the same site, from the time of its founding.
On the edge of Larnaca Bay, the palm-lined seafront of Larnaca town bustles
with Cafes, tavernas, shops and bars. Historic charm is lent o the scene
by its Medieval Fortress, now used as the town's summer cultural centre.
Larnaca is an excellent point from which to get to know the central and
eastern section of Cyprus. Its proximity to the international Airport and
the numerous luxury hotels located along the coast line make Larnaca a popular
choice.
Much smaller than Nicosia and Limassol, Larnaca has a population of 66,000
and has managed to retain a relaxed and leisurely atmosphere.
The advantages of Larnaca as a tourist resort are numerous. The archaeological
sites and museums are in the centre of the city, within walking distance.
Summer sports, care is excellent and its modern cinemas have film openings
and screenings at the restaurants, tavernas, cafeterias, bars and nights
clubs. Night life is interesting and security in the streets is unsurpassed.
Cultural life is rich and many events are organized almost on a daily basis.
As a place to spend your holidays, throughout the year, and especially as
an investment, Larnaca is the best for many reasons. The geographical location
of Larnaca, being a coastal city right in the middle of the island and having
easy access to any city or location have encouraged the authorities to put
in action a master place to modernise the city. The upgrading of the international
airport, shutting down of the oil refinery and relocation oil storage facilities,
converting the port to a marina for yachts and cruise ships, constructing
golf courses and a coastal road from city canter to Dekelia (to be a continuation
of the Finikoudes Promenade), upgrading the road infrastructure in and around
the city and the building five star hotels, just to name a few, make Larnaca
city and district the most sought after place.
The Larnaca International Airport lies a few kilometers from the centre
of the town but still the town is completely outside the cone of landing
and departing aircrafts.
Larnaca is not only the well know for its natural beauty, but for its historical
significance, its mild climate and the genuine hospitality of local people.
One can surely say that Larnaca, although it offers all kinds of modern
amenities, still manages to retain the traditional Cypriot way of life in
a non chaotic environment.
So consider Larnaca as your "Land of Promise". Other
